The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the traditional nationwide consumer reporting companies—Equifax, Experian and TransUnion—to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.

You can get your free annual copy of your credit report by taking one of the three steps listed below:

Consider keeping a continuous eye on your credit report. Set a reminder on your phone to pull one report every four months. The reports from different agencies might contain slightly different data, but this way you can regularly monitor your traditional credit information throughout the year.
